China: Semi-trailer crashes into multiple vehicles, at least 11 killed

USPA News - A deadly road accident involving multiple vehicles in eastern China killed at least 11 people and injured dozens more, local authorities said Friday. A semi-trailer carrying cement crashed into a car, a passenger bus, and a truck on Friday morning at approximately 11:30 a.m. local time on the expressway from Zhangzhou to Longyan in Nanjing County in the city of Zhangzhou.
A country government spokesperson confirmed the accident, adding that 35 people were injured in addition to the 11 fatal victims, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported. Preliminary investigations indicate the the semi-trailer`s brake system failed, causing it to collide into the other vehicles, which included the double-decker bus. The coach, operated by the Zunyi transport company from the province of Guizhou, was carrying 45 people. The Zhangzhou government said that among the 35 injured, eight suffered serious injuries. Investigations are undergoing.
