Man arrested after jumping White House fence

USPA News - A man who jumped over a fence in front of the White House on Wednesday was quickly apprehended after kicking a Secret Service dog, federal authorities said, just over a month after another fence jumper made it into the president`s residence. The latest incident happened at approximately 7:16 p.m. local time on Wednesday when an unidentified man climbed over a fence on the north side of the White House complex.
He could be seen kicking a Secret Service dog before being jumped by another dog, which with he struggled before being taken into custody by officers. "At approximately 7:16 pm, an individual climbed the North fenceline of the White House," said Secret Service spokesman Edwin Donovan. "The individual was immediately taken into custody on the North lawn of the White House by Secret Service Uniformed Division K-9 teams and Uniformed Division Officers." Donovan said the man was transported to a local hospital for evaluation but provided no further details. The White House was briefly placed on lockdown as the Secret Service assessed the situation, and Lafayette Square - a public park directly across the White House - was shut down as a precaution. The identity of the man or his reason for jumping over the fence was not immediately known. Wednesday`s incident came just over a month after 42-year-old Omar Gonzalez climbed over the same fence and ran towards the front of the president`s residence, which he then entered through the North Portico doors. Gonzalez was arrested inside the White House and was found to be carrying a folding knife in his pocket and had hundreds of rounds of ammunition in his vehicle. The failure of officers to stop Gonzalez from entering the White House led to the resignation of Secret Service Director Julia Pierson.
